But Negombo offers far more than a beach — centuries of Dutch colonial influence have left a fascinating legacy of canals, churches, and architecture alongside one of Sri Lanka's most colourful fishing communities.

This starter package is also designed as a seamless gateway: at the end of Day 3, simply continue to any Lanka JP Tours round tour package of your choice, or return to the airport for onward travel.

Airport Arrival → Negombo City Tour
Arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport and be warmly welcomed by your Lanka JP Tours representative with a traditional garland and refreshing water. Transfer to your Negombo beach hotel (10 minutes).

After check-in, embark on a Negombo city tour:

Negombo Fish Market Included — one of Sri Lanka's largest, a riot of colour and activity, especially vibrant in the morning
Dutch Canal / Negombo Lagoon Included — scenic boat ride through the historic Dutch-built canal network
St Mary's Church Included — imposing 19th-century Roman Catholic church at the heart of the old town

After breakfast, enjoy a leisurely morning cycling tour of coastal Negombo — discover Dutch-era canals, the old fort ruins, colourful fishing boats, and the charming fishermen's quarter that has preserved its way of life for generations.

Coastal Cycling Tour Included — guided cycle through Negombo's heritage streets and canal paths
Train to Katunayake Optional — a delightful 20-minute scenic train ride along the coast to Katunayake and back
Negombo Lagoon Boat Optional — afternoon mangrove and birdlife safari on the lagoon

Ceylon Cinnamon = "Brown Gold"

The Dutch VOC controlled Sri Lanka's cinnamon trade so jealously they once burned surplus stocks on Rotterdam's quays to keep prices high. True Ceylon cinnamon — chemically different from supermarket "cinnamon" — still grows only along Sri Lanka's western coast.
